Here’s a little more info about Groomability, the family behind the business, and the services we provide
We’re the Lloyd family, and ‘Groomability’ is operated from our home here in Barton, Cambridgeshire. We provide the ‘Groomability’ mobile dog grooming service to homes throughout Cambridge and the surrounding area.
Our mobile grooming service and our specially equipped van is operated by Belinda. She is an animal lover, dog enthusiast and official City & Guilds qualified dog groomer. Belinda has a deep understanding and real passion for both dogs and dog grooming, which helps her to get to know your dog, build trust and deliver a premium quality grooming session.
Belinda studied at The College of West Anglia, where she gained City & Guilds qualifications in Animal Care and Dog Grooming. This training and experience has made her prolific in grooming techniques on every breed of dog. With a quick coat assessment, she can identify just the right shampoo, conditioner and technique which will provide the absolute best results for your dog.
Currently (Jan 2014) Belinda is sadly off of the road whilst she recovers from a very nasty zoonotic (animal related) infection which has affected her sight. It appears that her recovery may take a while, so currently Fiona is undertaking our grooming. This has necessitated a change in working hours, our grooming service has now been restricted to Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 4pm.
Martin, Belinda’s dad, and our own dogs
Martin provides the driving assistance, plus general administrative and secretarial assistance. You will usually hear him on the end of the phone or driving the Groomability computer. He will be more than happy to chat to you about all our services, and book you in for an appointment. Martin served for over 26 years in the Cambridgeshire Constabulary, both in the Traffic department and for the last 9 years on the dog section. His love of both driving and dogs has now blended into the services we offer.
We have had many dogs of our own, but most recently we’ve had a number of German Shepherd police dogs. The last dog we owned, Gunner, was Martins first operational police dog. We kept Gunner as our pet when he retired from active police service, until his death in August 2012.
Until retirement Martin worked Troy, who had to be handed back to the police when Martin left. Being in his prime at 4 years old, Troy was re-handled by another officer and is performing true to his training and helping keep the peace and bring criminals to justice.
To assist with our ever-growing workload Fiona Burnley joined our happy band in August 2013 and made an immediate impact on our canine clients. An experienced dog owner and lover, Fiona currently has two dogs of her own – 6 year old William the Greyhound and 7 year old Kiwi, a Jack Russell X Chihuahua. Together with her three children Fiona certainly has her hands full!
Fiona also studied at The College of West Anglia, where she gained her City & Guilds qualification in Dog Grooming. The training and her own bubbly personality make her a hit with the dogs she grooms, although if you hear the dogs barking it is probable that they are asking her to stop talking!
What we do for the Arthritis Care Charity
Since the age of 2, Belinda has suffered from arthritis. As a family, we highly value the work carried out by the national Arthritis Care Charity, we make an annual donation to the charity and encourage others to do so as well.
It’s our way of saying thank you for the help the charity has given to Belinda and the millions of other people who suffer from arthritis throughout the UK.
Canine first aid and liability insurance
For your complete piece of mind, Belinda, Martin and Fiona have all completed a canine first aid course. We also hold public and product liability insurance to the value of £2.5million.
